Thomas McCail was born in Birmingham. A Brass Caster by occupation and a member of the 4th Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment, he attested for regular service at Birmingham on 2 October 1891, aged 18 years, 11 months. He served Malta, March 1893-October 1895; Egypt, October 1895-October 1897; and the East Indies, October 1897-November 1903. Served in the Dongola Expedition, 1896. Discharged on 27 November 1903. With copied service papers.
