A Daguerre Photograph of an Indian Army Rifles Officer c. 1855/6, the one sixth size plate (8 x 7 cms) shows a three quarter length depiction of the seated officer wearing a double breasted 1855 pattern tunic complete with pouch belt bearing an ornate plate and waist belt again with distinctive plate. He is holding his gloves and his sword rests against his left thigh. The portrait subsequently highlighted with spots of gilt to the buttons and belt ornaments. Now contained in an ornate gilt frame and housed within a velvet lined, hinged case the hinge to the case broken and the cover with some scuffing. The image in very fine condition £300-500
