12th Bengal Native Infantry Officer’s Waist Belt Clasp c.1855-1857, a most rare and very fine example of slightly variable two part 1855 pattern, the gilt central disc with silver mount comprising a crowned circular strap ‘Carnatic’ enclosing ‘XII’ laurel spray surrounds at the base two scrolls ‘Laswaree’ and ‘Ferozeshah’, matching benchmarks ‘9’, excellent condition £250-350

Note: The 12th Regiment BNI formed in 1781 served as such right through until 1857 when the regiment mutinied at Jhamsi and Nowgong.
