An 1827 pattern light infantry officer’s sword with a later Masonic presentation inscription, the 82.5cm blade of dumbbell section by Robert Mole & Sons, Birmingham, makers to the War & India Offices, etched with crowned entwined VR cypher, light infantry bugle all amid foliate scrolls, and a neatly engraved presentation inscription ‘Presented to Birmingham Old Edwardian Lodge No. 7115 in 1968 by Wor. Bro. D.W. Pond, P.P. Dep. G. SWD. B. Formerly the sword of his uncle Wor. Bro. Major W.H.Wellsman T.D. J.P. Assistant Grand Sword Bearer 1928-1929’, regulation plated steel guard incorporating strung bugle, fully chequered back-strap and fish-skin covered grip bound with silver wire, complete with its plated steel scabbard with two hanging rings, blade retaining most of its original polish and hilt and scabbard the plating £250-300

W.H. Wellsman commissioned in 1908 10th. City of London Regiment, Paddington Rifles a Major by 1916.

Dennis W. Pond a Major in the RAOC was an explosives expert.
