Charles Arthur Phillips was born in Shrewsbury in 1900. He served in the latter part of the Great War as Private 82329 in the Durham Light Infantry and was awarded the British War and Victory Medals. He re-enlisted in the 2nd Battalion Manchester Regiment on 13 March 1919. With the battalion he served in Iraq and was taken prisoner at Hillah, 24 July 1920. He was later released. With some copied research.
