M.I.D. London Gazette 6 January 1919.

Harold Whyatt was born on 9 October 1894 in Salford, the son of Lewis and Priscilla Whyatt. A Clerk by occupation, he enlisted into the 21st (6th City) Battalion Manchester Regiment on 21 November 1914. As a Private he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 8 November 1915. He later served as a Corporal with the battalion in Italy where he was mentioned in despatches. His papers indicate that he was a trained Signalling Instructor and that he had been wounded in action. He transferred to the Army Reserve in February 1919. During the Second World War he served in the Home Guard, June 1940-December 1944. He attended the 60th Anniversary of the City Pals at the Town Hall on 30 September 1974 and was present at the 1978 reunion, when he was living in Timperley, Cheshire. He died in January 1987.

With identity bracelet; together with M.I.D. certificate; certificate of transfer to the reserve; certificate of employment during the war; Home Guard certificate; 60th Anniversary of the City battalions ‘The Pals’ Manchester Regiment luncheon booklet - this signed by many of those who attended; with a list of those attending the 1978 reunion; together with copied research.
