James Taylor attested for the 14th (Reserve) Battalion Manchester Regiment in September 1914. Was posted to the 11th Battalion in September 1915 and entered the Balkan theatre of war on 30 September and served in Gallipoli. After the withdrawal from Gallipoli he was based in Egypt and thence France, July-October 1916 and June 1917-April 1919. Discharged to Class ‘Z’ Reserve on 15 May 1919. Pension records on February 1920 list him in the 22nd Battalion Manchester Regiment, having suffered a gun shot wound to the back some time in the past. With copied research.
