Punjab 1848-49, 1 clasp, Goojerat (Ensign J. C. Strode, 61st Foot.) naming rubbed in parts, edge bruising and contact marks, otherwise, nearly very fine £300-360

Julius Chetham Strode was appointed Ensign in the 61st Foot on 17 December 1847, and served with the 61st in the Punjab campaign of 1849; present at the battle of Goojerat, and with the field force in pursuit of the enemy in the Khyber Pass (Medal and one Clasp). He served with the expedition into the Eusufzie country, in action with the enemy 11th and 14th December 1849, and present at the capture and destruction of the insurgent villages of Saggow, Pullee, Zoormundie, and Sheerkanee, on those days. He also served with the expedition against the Afriedies in the Kohat Pass in February 1850. He transferred to the 14th Foot on 7 June 1850, and became Captain, by purchase, on 16 December 1853. Captain Strode, who was the youngest son of Vice-Admiral Sir E. C. Strode, K.C.B., K.C.H., died at Southill, Somerset, on 16 February 1855, in his 24th year.
