Joseph Maddock was born in Wallasey, Cheshire. Serving in the 13th (Wirral) Battalion Cheshire Regiment, he died in France on 21 April 1917, aged 29 years. He was buried in the Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension, Nord. Private Maddock was the son of John and Harriet Maddock, of 196 Wallasey Village, Wallasey.

With identity disk and original Wallasey Parish Church War Memorial service of dedication card - the service performed by the Bishop of Chester, on 4 October 1919 - the card bears a list of those commemorated, including Maddocks (sic). With copied research.
