Three: Corporal J. Knights, 1st/4th East Lancashire Regiment, who died of wounds, Gallipoli, 10 August 1915

John Knights was born in Blackburn, Lancashire, lived at Attleborough, Norfolk and enlisted at Blackburn. Serving in the 1st/4th Battalion East Lancashire Regiment, he entered the Balkan theatre of war on 9 May 1915. Believed to have been fatally wounded at Krithia Vineyard, Gallipoli on 9 August 1915, he died of his wounds on 10 August 1915, aged 24 years. His name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial. John Knights was the son of Jabez and Sarah Ann Knights, of 53 Whittaker Street, Blackburn. With original slip to accompany the above medals and copied m.i.c. and biographical and casualty details.
