China 1900, no clasp (Lieut., R.G.A.); 1914-15 Star (Major, R.G.A.); British War and Victory Medals, M.I.D. oak leaf (Major); General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Iraq (Major); Italy, Order of the Crown, Knight’s breast badge, gold and enamel; Al Valore Militare, bronze, obverse with crowned ‘Z’ below wreath, reverse inscribed, ‘Peiniger Robert Francis, Altipiano Carsico, 18 Agosto 5 Settemere 1917’, mounted as worn, some ribbons frayed, very fine and better (7) £1000-1200

Lieutenant Robert Francis Peiniger, R.G.A., served in the China campaign 1900. Then as a Major in the R.G.A. he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 27 July 1915 and remained there until 27 November 1916. He then served in Italy, 28 July-16 October 1917 - his service earning him twin Italian awards; followed by service in Mesopotamia, 5 November 1917-31 October 1918.
