Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 5 clasps, Cape Colony, Paardeberg, Driefontein, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill (3812 Pte., 1st Rl. Irish Regt.) last clasp bent; King’s South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps (3812 Pte., Rl. Irish Regt.); British War Medal 1914-20 (6732 Pte., R. Ir. Regt.); together with a renamed India General Service 1895-1902, 3 clasps, Punjab Frontier 1897-98, Samana 1897, Tirah 1897-98 (3812 Pte. M. Grant, Rl. Irish Regt.) unofficial connections between clasps, some edge bruising and contact marks, nearly very fine and better (4) £260-300

Michael Grant was born in Butlerstown, Co. Waterford, lived in Liverpool and enlisted into the Royal Irish Regiment at Dublin. Served with the 2nd Battalion in India and was awarded the I.G.S. 1895 with clasps for Punjab Frontier 1897-98 and Samana 1897. Later, with the 1st Battalion he served throughout the Boer War. With the regiment in the Great War he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 16 December 1914. Serving in the 2nd Battalion, he died of wounds on 26 May 1915. He was buried in the Longuenesse (St. Omer) Souvenir Cemetery. With copied research. Entitled to a 1914-15 Star trio of medals.
