William Arthur Hughes was born in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, lived in Leamington Spa and enlisted at Birmingham. As a Sergeant serving in the 2nd Dragoon Guards (Queen’s Bays) he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 13 May 1915. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. With copied Q.S.A. roll extract and casualty details.
