Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, undated reverse, 1 clasp, Suakin 1885 (5004 Corp., M.S. C[orps]); Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal (5004 S. Major, R.A.M.C.); King’s South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps (5004 Serjt. Maj., R.A.M.C.) ‘Serjt’ re-impressed; Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., small letter reverse (5004 St. Sgt. 1st Cl., R.A.M.C.); Khedive’s Star 1884-6, unnamed; together with miniature dress medals for all except L.S. & G.C., first and last full-size medals with edge bruising and contact marks, nearly very fine and better (9) £360-400

George Dutton was born in Chiddington, Buckinghamshire. A Clerk by occupation, he attested for General Service at Westminster on 22 May 1882, aged 22 years. Posted to the Army Hospital Corps and thence the Medical Staff Corps and Royal Army Medical Corps, he served in India, September 1883-March 1884; Egypt, February-July 1885 and South Africa, May 1895-January 1902. He attained the rank of Sergeant-Major in May 1900. Discharged on 21 May 1903 on completion of his second period of service. With copied service papers and roll extracts.
