A Great War Arras operations M.C. group of three awarded to Lieutenant N. E. Jervis, Royal Warwickshire Regiment, afterwards attached Machine Gun Corps, who was wounded on the occasion he won his decoration for an attack on Oppy Wood in June 1917

M.C. London Gazette 17 September 1917:

‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during and after the assault upon enemy trenches. He led his company with great dash and skill capturing both his objectives. Though hit in the head immediately afterwards, and in considerable pain, he insisted on carrying on with the consolidation, remaining with his company for two days until sent to the dressing station much against his wish. His pluck and determination set a magnificent example to his men. He has previously done consistently good work.’

Norman Edward Jervis was educated at King Edward’s School, Birmingham and enlisted in the 14th Battalion (1st City Battalion) Royal Warwickshire Regiment in September 1914. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the 16th Battalion in July 1915, he first went to France in the following year and was decorated for the above cited deeds at Oppy Wood on 28 June 1917, when his unit advanced so swiftly that all objectives were taken before the enemy could even bring down a counter barrage.

Jervis was attached to the Machine Gun Corps from 1918; sold with copied research.
