Frederick Charles Ulick Vernon-Wentworth was born on 10 June 1866, the son of Thomas F. C. Vernon-Wentworth, of Wentworth Castle, near Barnsley, West Yorkshire. Served in the Royal Navy. Was a Midshipman aboard the battleship H.M.S. Agincourt at the bombardment of Alexandria 11 July 1882. Promoted to Lieutenant in January 1890 and to Commander in January 1901. From the Retired List, Wentworth was appointed Captain of H.M.S. Vernon on 10 July 1918. On the occasion of the King’s birthday, he was appointed an additional member of the Civil Division of the Third Class or Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath. In 1899 he married Mary Emily, daughter of Lieutenant-General J. C. Guise, V.C., C.B. Appointed the High Sheriff of Suffolk in 1912. Latterly a J.P., D.L. and a director of Mann, Egerton & Co., Ltd., he lived at Blackheath, Saxmundham, Suffolk. Captain Vernon-Wentworth died on 21 September 1947. With copied research.
