Royal Society of Tropical Medicine, Manson Medal, c.1923, a uniface silver trial by J.R. Pinches, bust of Patrick Manson right, patrick manson, 51mm (MJP p. 183). Matt finish, slightly discoloured, about extremely fine (£40-50)

Sir Patrick Manson (1844-1922), physician and parasitologist, who was the first scientist to suggest mosquitoes carried the malaria parasite. Instituted in 1923, the medal was awarded triennially to the living author of such original work in any branch of tropical medicine as the Council considered to be worthy of the honour
