Russia, The Turkish Campaign, 1828-9, a silver medal by H. Gube, bust of Nicholas I right, rev. Nicholas, dressed as a medieval warrior, receiving a crucifix and a sword from Mother Russia, 38mm (BDM II, 334). Has been quite heavily cleaned and with an obverse rim knock at 6 o’clock, otherwise almost extremely fine (£60-80)

The Latin inscription around (written in cyrillic) translates ‘Gird your swords to your sides, heroes’ and in exergue ‘Turkish Wars 14 April 1828’
