Estimate: £800–£1,000

Kings of Macedon, Philip II, (359-336 BC) gold Stater, Pella, laureate head of Apollo right, rev. charioteer driving galloping biga right. Good very fine; set in a gold ring mount consisting of roped double rings and four clasps, this with Middle-Eastern hallmarks indicating 21ct; the ring mount obscures the exergual legend, but whether the clasps have damaged the edges of the coin in any way cannot be known in its present state (£800-1000)
