Assorted 1939-45 War period original documentation, comprising: Buckingham Palace memorial scroll in the name of ‘Sergeant J. S. Roberts, R.A.F’, together with a quantity of family photographs; Mention in Despatches certificate in the name of ‘Squadron Leader R. W. Toft, Auxiliary Air Force’, dated 1 January 1946; Air Council condolence slip in the name of ‘Aircraftman Second Class J. D. Beal’, together with his War Medal 1939-45 in its original addressed card forwarding box with named and numbered issuance slips; and a quantity of documents and photographs relevant to H.M.S. Hood, which appear to have belonged to ‘G. Townend’, generally in good condition (Lot) £60-80

James Stanley Roberts, a Sergeant (pilot) in the R.A.F.V.R., appears to have died as a result of an accident at No. 2 Glider School, R.A.F. Kidlington, Oxfordshire on 11 April 1942. Aged 23 years, he was the son of Cameron and Almena Roberts and the husband of Noreen Anne of Scarborough, Yorkshire. he is buried in Scarborough (Woodlands) Cemetery.

John Derrick Beal, an A.C. 2 in the R.A.F.V.R., died on 19 April 1945, aged 19 years. He was the son of W. H. Beal and Janette More Beal of Seamer, Yorkshire and is buried in Seamer (St. Martin) Churchyard.

R. W. Toft onetime served in No. 918 (County of Derby) Squadron, A.A.F., a Balloon unit based in Derbyshire.
