King’s Messenger Badge, G.VI.R., silver-gilt and enamel, with pendant silver greyhound, badge numbered, ‘42’ on reverse, with neck cravat, in Garrard, London case of issue, nearly extremely fine £1200-1500

With a copied official Foreign and Commonwealth Office note reading: ‘Queen’s (sic) Messenger Badge numbered 42 is the personal property of Colonel John Howard Wakefield’.

Colonel J. H. Wakefield was commanding officer of the Poona Horse. Upon his retirement from the military service he became a Farmer and King’s/Queen’s Messenger.
