Medals to father and son:

Volunteer Force Long Service Medal awarded to Bugle-Major David Plinston, 1st Volunteer Battalion South Lancashire Regiment, per A.O. January 1895. He was born in 1848 and died in Warrington in 1899. The 1891 Census records him employed as an Engine Smith, living in Rose and Crown Street, Warrington. The same record lists his eldest son, John, aged 20 years, living at home and employed as a Tinsmiths Apprentice.

Volunteer Force Long Service Medal awarded to Serjeant-Drummer John William Plinston, 1st Volunteer Battalion South Lancashire Regiment, per A.O. October 1903. Born in 1872 John William Plinston was awarded his medal in 1903; his father having enrolled his son at the age of 11 years. The 1911 Census records him employed as a Licensed Victualler. He died in Runcorn in 1935. With copied research.
