Leslie George Ball was born in Brompton, South Australia. A Clerk by occupation, he attested for the Australian Imperial Force in January 1917 and was posted to the 3rd Light Horse Regiment. He embarked at Sydney on the Kyarra on 3 September 1917. Landing in Egypt in October 1917 he joined a signal unit and thence the 3rd Light Horse in February 1918. Accidentally injured (kicked by horse) in November 1918. Discharged medically unfit on 26 March 1919. With a quantity of copied service papers.
