Squire Tommis was born in and enlisted at Bradford, West Yorkshire. Serving with the 15th Battalion (1st Leeds) West Yorkshire Regiment, he was killed in action on the Western Front on 3 May 1917, aged 30 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial. He was the son of Jonas and Sarah Tommis, of 40 Tennyson Road, Wibsey, Bradford.
