1914 Star (Ch. 2690 Col. Sergt. T. Cunningham, R.M. Brigade) good very fine £50-70

Thomas Cunningham was born in Ashton, Preston, Lancashire on 13 November 1865. He enlisted into the Royal Marines at Preston on 13 November 1883 and re-engaged in August 1895. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in June 1894. In the Great War he served with the Chatham Battalion R.M.L.I. at Dunkirk and at the defence of Antwerp. He was wounded in action at Antwerp, receiving a wound to the right side of his face. Was entitled to a clasp to his Star. Demobilized in June 1919, his address was given as 13 Milburn Street, Gillingham, Kent. With copied group photograph, including Cunningham, taken from the Chatham, Rochester and Gillingham Observer, 21 November 1914 - officers and N.C.O’s. of the Chatham Division who took part in the defence of Antwerp and with copied service notes.
