Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1902 (6407 Pte. J. Cumberland, Rl. Welsh Fus.) edge bruising, good very fine £80-100

John Cumberland was born in Bloomsbury, Birmingham. A Gardener by occupation, he attested for the Royal Welsh Fusiliers at Douglas, Isle of Man on 9 April 1900, aged 18 years. With the 1st Battalion he served in South Africa, January-October 1902, seeing service with the 22nd Mounted Infantry. He then served in India, October 1902-February 1908 and was discharged on 8 April 1912. His Q.S.A. was his only medallic award. With copied service papers and roll extract on paper and C.D.
