Joseph Dixon was born in Wigan, Lancashire. A Warehouseman by occupation, he attested for the Grenadier Guards at Wednesbury on 25 May 1893, aged 18 years, 1 month. Transferring to the Army Reserve in May 1896, he was recalled to the Colours in December 1899. Posted to South Africa, serving with the 2nd Battalion, he died of dysentery at Harrismith on 17 December 1900. With copied service papers.
