Caradoc Ivor Evans, a Welshman who found employment as a Book Clerk in South Africa, enlisted in the Protectorate Regiment (Frontier Force) in August 1899, aged 25 years. He was subsequently present at the defence of Mafeking but died of fever on 23 April 1900 (Medal & clasp); sold with copied research.
