India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Sikkim 1888 (1068 Pte. W. Taylor, 2nd Bn. Derby. R.) edge bruising, very fine £240-280

William Taylor was born in Dunholme, near Newark, Lincolnshire. A Groom by occupation and a member of the Derby Militia, he attested for the Derbyshire Regiment at Worksop on 29 April 1885, aged 19 years, 5 months. He had enlisted under the name of William Holberry but declared this to be incorrect in July 1888. With the regiment he served in the East Indies, January 1887-February 1893. The above medal was his only medallic award. Discharged in April 1897. With copied service papers and roll extracts.
