Crimea 1854-56, 2 clasps, Azoff, Sebastopol (T. Miles, A.B.) officially impressed naming, suspension soldered and no longer swivels, cleaned and with signs of fire damage overall, otherwise about very fine and rare £400-500

Probably from the collection of the late Miss Jane Kenworthy, U.S.A., which was largely destroyed by fire in the 1970s. Such medals that were able to be recovered were restored by Spink and often harshly acid cleaned.

This medal is officially impressed in the correct style of the original Crimean issues. His name, however, does not appear on the rolls of any of the ships to which officially impressed medals were issued, namely
London, Rodney, Niger, and Wasp. Thomas Miles, A.B., does appear on the roll of H.M.S. Algiers, entitled to the clasps for Azoff and Sebastopol. However, it should be noted that a group containing an engraved Crimea medal, named to Algiers, together with medals for the Baltic, China, Turkish Crimea and Long Service, was sold by D.N.W. in September 2009. Sold with copied record of service.
