Jeffrey Alan Batty was born in Ballarat, Victoria in September 1947 and enlisted in the Citizens Military Forces in September 1965, when he was posted to the Royal Army Australian Service Corps. Having latterly been drafted to the 2nd Royal Australian Rifles, he was discharged ‘time expired’ in October 1967 but re-enlisted in the Australian Military Forces in the following year and went on to served in the 5th and 7th Battalions, Royal Australian Rifles in Vietnam in 1969-70. He was discharged in July 1972; sold with an extensive file of copied service papers.
