Seven: Chief Electrical Artificer A. S. Jones, Royal Navy

Naval General Service 1915-62, 1 clasp, Palestine 1936-1939 (M.35461 C.E.A.2., R.N.); 1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star, Africa Star, clasp, North Africa 1942-43; Pacific Star; War Medal 1939-45, these unnamed; Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., G.V.R., 3rd issue, with Second Award Bar (M.35461 A/C.E.A.2, H.M.S. Pembroke) mounted as worn, slight edge bruising and some contact marks, very fine and better (8) £200-240

Arthur Stephen Jones was born in Greenwich on 20 February 1901. A Fitter & Turner by occupation, he entered the Royal Navy as an Electrical Artificer 5th Class on 13 April 1920. Advanced to Acting Electrical Artificer 4th Class in February 1922 when at Vernon; confirmed in that rank in February 1923 on Diligence; promoted to E.A. 3rd Class in February 1925 on Sandhurst; to E.A. 2nd Class in February 1929 when at Victory and E.A. 1st Class in February 1934 when on Cumberland. Still on that ship, he was advanced to Acting Chief Electrical Artificer 2nd Class in March 1934, being confirmed in that rank in February 1937 when at Pembroke. Promoted to Chief Electrical Artificer 1st Class in March 1940 when on the cruiser Sussex. Jones was appointed Acting Warrant Electrician in March 1941. Ranked as Chief Electrical Artificer once more in December 1948 until he was pensioned on 15 December 1957.
