Pair: Skipper Joseph Harris, Merchant Navy, who was killed in the North Sea on 22 September 1914

Joseph Harris was born in Woolwich. As Skipper of the Kilmarnock, of Grimsby, he was killed when his vessel was blown up by a mine on 22 September 1914. He was aged 48 years at the time of his death. His name is commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial.

Medals in damaged card boxes of issue and with registered envelope addressed to ‘Mrs A. E. Harris, 169 Brereton Avenue, New Cleethorpes’; plaque in card envelope and similarly addressed envelope. With ‘Certified Extract Relating to the Supposed Death of a Seaman’, dated 10 October 1914.
