Edward Shaffers was born in Horton, Middlesex and enlisted at Shoreditch. Serving as a Serjeant in the 7th Battalion Norfolk Regiment, he was killed in action on 13 October 1915, aged 33 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Loos memorial. He was the husband of E. A. Scrivener (formerly Shaffers) of 97 Winston Road, Stoke Newington, London.
