Harry Roach was born in Swansea and originally attested for the Army Service Corps in April 1895, aged 19 years. Transferred to the Army Reserve in April 1898, he was recalled on the outbreak of the Boer War and served in South Africa from November 1899 until September 1902. Having then been placed back on the reserve and discharged in April 1907, he re-enlisted in July 1909 and was mobilised as a Shoeing-Smith in August 1914. At the time of his discharge at Woolwich in May 1919, he was serving in 1st Company, 15th Divisional Transport, A.S.C.; sold with brief service details.
