Leonard Patrick Griffin enlisted on 2 December 1907. Serving in the 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 13 August 1914. He was discharged due to sickness on 26 November 1915 and awarded the Silver War Badge (not with lot). With copied m.i.c. and roll extract - the former confirms the award of a clasp to the 1914 Star; it also records the loss of his Silver War Badge, which was found by the Police and returned to him in May 1917.
