Three: Flight Sergeant H. R. Harland, Royal Air Force, late Royal Flying Corps

Harold Ralph Harland was born in Scarborough on 19 September 1895. Employed as a Wood Turner and Joiner, he was a direct entrant into the Royal Flying Corps on 27 February 1914. He served in France, 6 October 1914-23 September 1915; 12 October 1916-22 January 1918, and 18 October 1918-20 February 1919. Promoted to Sergeant, 1 June 1916 and Flight Sergeant on 1 September 1916. His trade was listed as ‘Rigger Aero’. Transferred to the R.A.F. Reserve on 25 March 1920 and discharged on 14 June 1930. His address on discharge was 21 Sussex Street, Scarborough.

With R.F.C. badge added for display purposes. With copied service papers and the extract in which he is listed in
A Contemptible Little Flying Corps. Also with Certificate of Appreciation for 45 years service with the Post Office, 1949 and slip to accompany the Imperial Service Medal, 23 September 1949 - these two named to George Robert Harland.
