Rgt.); King’s South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 (2717 Pte. J. Mayall, Glouc. Regt.), edge bruising, contact marks and polished, otherwise good fine (2) £180-220

John C. Mayall was born in Tewksbury, Gloucestershire in 1871 and enlisted in the Gloucestershire Regiment at Bristol in October 1889, aged 18 years, direct from the 4th (Militia) Battalion. His subsequent postings were to India (1892-93), Malta (1893-95), Egypt (1895-97) and South Africa (1900-02), where he qualified for the above described Medals & clasps. Having then been discharged, he re-enlisted in the Great War and served in the 3rd Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment and the Labour Corps in France 1915-19; sold with brief career details.
