Frederick Arthur Smith was born in Birmingham and enlisted at Huddersfield. Serving in the Northamptonshire Regiment, he served in India. Serving with the 10th Battalion King’s Own Yorkshire Infantry, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 27 September 1915. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
