Robert Laurie was born in Falkirk, Scotland on 16 June 1892. A carpenter by occupation, he attested for the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force at Valcartier on 23 September 1914. He entered France in February 1915 serving with the 2nd Field Ambulance C.A.M.C.. and the 1st Canadian Divisional Train. Wounded but remained on duty 9 August 1918. Awarded the M.M. while serving with the C.A.S.C. With copied service papers.
