M.M. London Gazette 7 February 1919. The recipient came from Chester.

With a framed card of congratulations from Major-General C. E. Pereira, Commanding 2nd Division, which bears the citation:

‘Congratulates No. 91004 Private J. Birchall, 1st Bn. King’s Regiment on his bravery and skilful handling of his Lewis Gun Section during operations against Ervillers and Mory Copse August 23rd and 24th, 1918’.

With damaged card box of issue for the British War and Victory Medals and the card forwarding box for the W.W.2 medals - this addressed to ‘Mr J. E. Birchall, Brandreth House, Parbold, Nr. Wigan, Lancs.’ With cap badge added for display purposes.
