An original pair of Napoleonic War Militia “call up” certificates appertaining to Richard Dyson of Hertfordshire, comprising printed notice of his call to arms in the Hertfordshire Militia, signed by the Constable of the Parish of Chesthunt, dated 14th March 1804, in which he is instructed to report to the ‘Half Moon Inn’ at 11 a.m. on Wednesday 21st March to be sworn in as a member of the local militia before the Deputy Lieutenant and Justices of the Peace - or to provide a fit person in his stead; and a second printed certificate, dated 14th April 1804, signed by three local officers, confirming that one ‘Thomas Clark’ had come forward as his ‘substitute’, in generally good condition and scarce (2) £80-120
