Four: attributed to Special Constable William Griffiths, Birmingham Special Constabulary

Birmingham Special Constabulary L.S. Medal 1916, bronze, reverse inscribed, ‘H. W. Griffiths’, with integral brooch bar; Birmingham Special Constabulary Water Works Guard Medal 1917-18, bronze, unnamed, with integral brooch bar; Birmingham Special Constabulary Reserve Lapel Badge, by Gaunt, London, reverse numbered, ‘587’, silver and enamel; Birmingham City Police Special Constable 1914, cap badge, good very fine (4) £80-100

William Griffiths lived at 29 Grantham Road, Bearwood and was a Lodge Keeper by occupation. During the Great War he served in the Birmingham Special Constabulary, warrant number ‘115’. Re-mustered in 1919, aged 53 years, with the same number and ‘collar number’ ‘B47’. Served as a Special Constable from the Harborne Police Station. Resigned having reached the age limit on 31 October 1936. With some copied service notes.
