Archibald Joseph Verini (’Archibald James Verini’ on medal) was born at Marylebone, London in 1869 to Augustine John Verini and Eliza Ann Verini (née Birch). Educated at Dartmouth Groce School and University College School. He was commissioned into the C.L.I.V. on 17 October 1895. Listed as a Captain of ‘F’ Company, C.P.R.C. (Colombo) in 1904; listed as a Captain in the Volunteer Reserve in 1905 and 1908. Due to ill health in April 1919 he relinquished his commission whilst retaining his rank. For his wartime services he was awarded the British War Medal only. Also entitled to the Silver War Badge. He retired to the island of Jersey and in 1923 was awarded the Colonial Auxiliary Force L.S. Medal.
