Tom Cornelius was born in St. Stephens, Cornwall and enlisted at St. Austell. Serving in the 7th Battalion Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 16 September 1916, aged 20 years. He was buried in the Guards’ Cemetery, Lesboeufs. Private Cornelius was the son of Mary Cornelius, of Trewoon, St. Mewan, St. Austell, Cornwall and the late John Cornelius.
