Pair: Sergeant C. I. Lord, 9th Lancers

Punjab 1848-49, 2 clasps, Chilianwala, Goojerat (C. I. Lord, 9th Lancers.); Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 3 clasps, Delhi, Relief of Lucknow, Lucknow (Corpl. Chas. I. Lord, 9th Lancers) the first with contact marks, otherwise very fine and better (2) £1200-1400

Charles Isaac Lord was born in the Parish of Bolton, Lancaster, and attested for the 14th Light Dragoons in London on 3 December 1841, a letter press printer by trade, aged 23 years 7 months. He transferred to the 9th Lancers on 16 April 1842, and was promoted to Corporal in October 1857, and to Sergeant in March 1859. He was discharged on 4 April 1865. ‘He has received a Medal for Good Conduct and Long Service, also a Medal for the battle of Sobraon, a Medal for the Punjab campaign with clasps for Chillianwala and Goojerat; Medal for the Indian Mutiny with clasps for Delhi, Relief of Lucknow and Lucknow, and was also granted a years service for the part taken by him in the proceedings before Lucknow.’ Sold with copied discharge papers.
