Henry Dean was born in the Parish of St. Paul’s, Deptford, Kent. He attested for the 33rd Regiment at Greenwich on 19 February 1858, aged 18 years, 2 months. With the regiment he served over 9 years in the East Indies and 7 months in Abyssinia. He was discharged at Halifax on 19 February 1879. At his discharge he was in possession of the Abyssinia Medal in addition to the above. With copied discharge papers.
