India General Service 1895-1902, 2 clasps, Punjab Frontier 1897-98, Tirah 1897-98 (4642 Corpl. G. Grove, 2d Bn. Conn. Rangers) official correction to service number, edge bruise, very fine, rare to unit £300-400

George Groves was born in Birmingham. A Caster by occupation and a member of the 3rd Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment (Militia), he attested for the Connaught Rangers at Birmingham on 12 September 1893, aged 18 years, 5 months. Promoted to Lance-Corporal in November 1894; Corporal in June 1896, Lance-Sergeant in March 1899 and Sergeant in January 1900. Served in India, February 1897-December 1902. Transferred to the Army Reserve in April 1903 and was discharged in September 1909. With copied service papers.

Twenty officers and men of the regiment received the Punjab Frontier 1897-98 clasp, and twelve got that for Tirah 1897-98.
