Khedive’s Star, 1884-6, reverse privately impressed, ‘7760 1GG’, edge bruising, contact marks, good fine £70-90

Frank Reader was born in Cauldwell, Derbyshire. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the Grenadier Guards at Burton-on-Trent on 14 September 1881. As Private 7760 in the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, he served in Egypt, September 1884-July 1885. Served in the Nile Expedition 1884-85 with the Guards Camel Corps and was present at the battle of Abu Klea. Awarded the Egypt and Sudan Medal 1882-89, 2 clasps, The Nile 1884-85, Abu Klea. Transferred to the Army Reserve in March 1888 and discharged on 13 September 1893. With copied service papers and roll and census extracts.
