South Africa 1877-79, 1 clasp, 1879 (2856 Pte. W. Seymour, 3/60th Foot) signs of brooch mounting to obverse, suspension refitted and slack, edge bruising, nearly very fine £1000-1200

W. Seymour enlisted in the 4th Battalion 60th Foot at Winchester on 2 June 1868, aged 21 years. At the time of his enlistment he was serving in the Hampshire Militia. Transferred to the 3rd Battalion he served in South Africa, seeing active service in the Zulu War 1879. Still serving in South Africa during the First Boer War, Private Seymour was killed / died of wounds at the battle of Ingogo River, 8 February 1881. With copied research.
